HISTORY OF AVVR

Audio-Visual and Video Rentals was founded in October 1979 by John Lundeen, one of Minnesota’s first Certified Media Specialists. At that time John had fifteen years of sales, rental and management experience in the Audio-Visual industry.

AVVR’s first corporate home was in Edina near the intersection of Highways 494 and 100. AVVR’s original purpose was to provide rental equipment and technical assistance for corporate meetings and conventions.

By 1985 we had become a major supplier of meeting room equipment to hotels and convention groups and had outgrown our facility in Edina. A search was conducted for a new corporate home that ended with the selection of two facilities. The headquarters located in Eagan at the intersection of Highway 13 and Cedar Avenue to service the South Metro area, and an office located in downtown Minneapolis on Washington Avenue near the HHH Metrodome to service the Metro area.

The late eighties and nineties brought continued expansion. AVVR grew with the hotel, entertainment, and meeting business. Our inventory was divided between the Minneapolis location and the headquarters in Eagan.

With 9/11 the travel and meeting industries suffered. The Minneapolis location was closed and all staff and equipment was moved to the larger Eagan headquarters. As a streamlined business, AVVR has continued to focus on customer service and expert technical knowledge. We now have 5 full time technicians, 3 full time show technicians, and 10 part time show technicians to serve our customers.
